‘Homeless NOT Artless’ performance
Posted Nov 13th, 2008 • Category: Big Issue News • By Anna O'BrienThe Big Issue vendors and friends will present a showcase performance at ACMI Cinemas at Federation Square, after the first day of football action at the Melbourne 2008 Homeless World Cup.
The Big Issue in Melbourne has run a popular series of writing and visual art workshops for the homeless and disadvantaged throughout 2008, including players in the street soccer program. The workshops have been led by some of Melbourne’s most talented artists, including award winning writers Arnold Zable and Alicia Sometimes.
This is a rare opportunity to hear the unique and gifted voices of The Big Issue vendors and friends in their own words. Inspirational, stirring, poetic and entertaining.

I have just returned from attending Homeless not Artless. Thank you so very much to the people who organised the evening. A special thank you to the people who helped the storytellers with their writing, film making, creative art. It was an emotional evening, it made the Big Issue vendors part of the community, giving them a face and a voice.
Most of all, thank you to the storytellers. Thank you for sharing part of your lives with us.
