Big Issue calendars on the streets for christmas

The Big Issue is getting into the festive spirit with its annual Christmas edition and calendar.
On sale 1–25 December, the 2009 calendar and Christmas edition will be available from Big Issue vendors in most capital cities across Australia and in some regional areas.
At just $5, the calendar is a great gift idea, with the added bonus that half the money goes directly into the pocket of your Big Issue vendor – sharing the gift of giving.
The 2009 calendar celebrates the talents of some of The Big Issue’s regular cartoonists and contributing artists, including Andrew Weldon, Michael Weldon, Michel Streich, Rhiannon Mowat, Dean Gorissen, Ron Monnier and Keith Burt.
It also showcases what The Big Issue is all about: a fortnightly independent current affairs magazine with a sense of humour – a good read for a good deed.
The calendar will be sold in conjunction with the bumper Christmas edition of The Big Issue, featuring goodwill messages from vendors as well as all the usual great features.
Big Issue vendors have experienced homelessness, long-term unemployment or disadvantage, and are now making the most of the opportunity for positive change in their lives. Authorised vendors buy the magazine for $2.50 from the Big Issue office and sell it on the streets for $5.
The Big Issue has an estimated 171,000 readers per issue. Since it first hit Australian streets in 2006, $8.1 million has gone directly to Australia’s homeless, unemployed or disadvantaged. Now more than 380 vendors across Australia sell the magazine on a regular basis.
